Taylor Fritz is the highest-ranked American remaining in the men’s singles field. The 27-year-old California native has shot up the world rankings over the past 12 months, rising up to No. 5 after being No. 12 this time last year.

His success thus far at Wimbledon has come with some stiff challenges. Fritz won each of his first two matches in five sets, rallying to defeat Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round on July 1 after dropping the first two sets and outlasting Gabriel Diallo the following day. In the third round, he largely had his way with 26th-ranked Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, whom he knocked off in four sets (the only set Fritz dropped came on a tiebreaker).
