The Real Reason Why ‘America’s Got Talent’ Is Not New Tonight

The Real Reason Why ‘America’s Got Talent’ Is Not New Tonight originally appeared on Parade.

The sixth night of auditions for America’s Got Talent was originally scheduled to air tonight with judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara all set to make someone’s dream come true by awarding them four yeses and an opportunity to go through to the Live Shows, or to be awarded a Golden Buzzer and be guaranteed a spot in the live shows. Each artist hopes their two minutes in front of the judges will change their lives.

The reason that AGT is taking a one-week hiatus is the Fourth of July holiday. With a record-breaking 72.2 million Americans projected to travel at least 50 miles from home by planes, trains and automobiles, there aren’t going to be that many eyes on the TV set, so NBC opted to postpone the next set of auditions until the audience is back at home.

Season 20 has had an exciting turnout so far, with some unusual acts that have never before been seen on AGT. But also those that are so outstanding that the judges and host Terry Crews have awarded them a Golden Buzzer and a guarantee of performing for America in the Live Shows.
