One hurt in rural Cedar Rapids crash

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – One person had to be taken to the hospital following a crash in rural Cedar Rapids Tuesday evening.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says at 5:23 p.m., deputies were called to a report of a crash at Highway 13 and Mount Vernon Road.

At the crash scene, first responders found a Ford Edge and a GMC Terrain, each with significant front-end damage, blocking the roadway.

After interviews, deputies determined the driver of the Ford had failed to yield as it was turning northbound onto Highway 13 from eastbound Mount Vernon Road. The Ford collided with the GMC as it traveled westbound on Mount Vernon Road.

The driver of the GMC was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the Ford, a 64-year-old woman from Anamosa, was not hurt. She has been cited for failing to yield.
