Nicole Kidman and Renée Zellweger have been longtime friends since the time they appeared together in Cold Mountain back in 2003.
However, according to RadarOnline.com, a few sources revealed that both stars have initiated a “battle” over casting British actor Colin Firth in their upcoming projects.
“Renée and Nicole both want Colin to star in their next projects,” said a confidante.
But Colin’s “sparked a conflict only being available for one, not both,” shared an insider.
Now, the Bridget Jones actor “got to choose, and it’s not easy as he adores both women equally,” claimed another source.
On the other hand, an insider opened up that this “isn’t a comfortable situation for Nicole and Renée either, but neither of them is backing down”.
Interestingly, Nicole is believed to cast Colin alongside her in an adaptation of Thomas Hardy novel, Tess of the d’Urbervilles.
Renée wants to work with the actor again after his character was killed off in the fourth Bridget Jones movie.
Looking at this matter, the insider stated, “Of course Colin has been on cloud nine being feted by two of Hollywood’s most famous actresses, but the situation has also put poor actor in an awkward spot.”
“The last thing he wants is to be the reason behind two pals falling out,” noted a source.
It is also said that Renée and Nicole are not comfortable with this battle as they respect each other.
“Then again, professional pride is on the line, and these are two extremely successful actresses who are used to getting what they want,” concluded an insider.
