Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson is bringing The Cosmic Perspective to the First Interstate Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
SPOKANE, Wash. — World renowned astrophysicist and science communicator Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson is set to take the stage at the First Interstate Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 7, 2026, for an evening titled The Cosmic Perspective.
Organizers say the event promises a journey through the universe guided by one of science’s most celebrated voices.
Tickets for the event range from $51.25 to $281.18 and will go on sale Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. through TicketsWest.com.
Dr. Tyson, known for his engaging and accessible style, has played a central role in popularizing astrophysics and cosmology. His television appearances include hosting PBS NOVA’s Origins miniseries in 2004, which established him as a household name, and five seasons of NOVA ScienceNOW, a program offering a digestible look at the frontiers of science. More recently, he served as host and executive science editor for Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey and its sequel Cosmos: Possible Worlds, broadcast globally in over 45 languages.
He is also an author, with a catalog of fifteen books aimed at the general public. His 2017 release Astrophysics for People in a Hurry became a bestseller worldwide, followed by other critically acclaimed titles including Accessory to War, Letters from an Astrophysicist, Cosmic Queries, Starry Messenger, and To Infinity and Beyond, the latter coauthored with Lindsey Nyx Walker.
Dr. Tyson currently serves as the director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City and holds the Frederick P. Rose Directorship. He has received 23 honorary doctorates and the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal.
