Jaguars Elite 14U flag football teams rolls to quarterfinals in NFL Flag Championships


Brysen Wright caught two touchdown passes and three one-point conversions on Friday to lead the Jaguars Elite 14U to the quarterfinals of the NFL Flag Championship at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Wright, a rising sophomore at Mandarin High School, scored 15 of his team’s points in a 20-14 victory over Ryan Football, a team representing the Miami Dolphins. The Jaguars will play Old Skewl (Baltimore Ravens) on Saturday at 11 a.m., televised on NFL Network and streamed on ESPN+ and NFL+.

If the Jags win, they will play the winner of a game between HFFL Empire (Raiders) and RFP (Bills) at Noon on Sunday. A victory there would send the Jaguars to the championship game at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Jaguars Elite outscored three opponents 89-24 in pool play on Thursday. Playing teams representing the Jaguars’ AFC South opponents, the team beat Sumner Elite (Texans) 28-0, Lexington East (Colts) 26-6 and Prime (Texans) 35-18.

Also still alive in their age group championships are the Jaguars 12U Rec team (4-0) and the Jaguars 10U Elite Girls, NxtGen 10U, and the Marion County Juice 8U (3-0).

Nine First Coast teams representing the Jaguars are a combined 24-6 in the NFL Flag Championships through Friday’s games. The JAX Police Athletic League Storm 12U Rec team will begin play on Saturday.
