Is ‘The Gilded Age’ Renewed for Season 4? Everything We Know

We’re at the halfway point of The Gilded Age season three, but fans are already anxious to learn about the future of the period drama.

So far, there’s been no official news on season four from HBO, but that doesn’t mean the show won’t return for another chapter.

In fact, creator Julian Fellowes doesn’t yet know how the series will end. “I don’t think we do have a final stopping place because we’re not told there’ll be a fourth series or a fifth or whatever,” he told TV Insider. “But each time you have to reinvent the show in order to give it a new dynamic to fit its new proportions. And I think that is part of our job. That’s part of what you do if you write a series for television. So in a sense, each [season] has to have a satisfactory conclusion given what’s taken place within the series, but an open end where we may be going to, and that is the sort of double discipline that we write to really.”

Actress Carrie Coon, who plays Bertha Russell, would love to explore more with her character. She told Variety ahead of season three, “Right now we’re on a one-year deal. So I’m optimistic that we could get another year. If for some reason the numbers skyrocket this season, perhaps we’d get a multi-year deal, but that’s really above my pay grade.”

Actresses Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, and Louisa Jacobson also shared their thoughts on future storylines with Town & Country earlier this year, including the potential for a musical episode. Read their predictions here.

We’ll update this as we learn more about The Gilded Age season four.
