CLEVELAND, Ohio — This is a preview of the three-game series between the Guardians and Tigers that starts Friday night.

TV/radio: CLEGuardians.TV will televise games Friday and Sunday. Saturday’s contest will air on FOX. All three games will broadcast on WTAM 1100 AM, WMMS 100.7 FM, WARF 1350 AM (Spanish) and the Guardians Radio Network.
Probable starting pitchers and starting times: RHP Reese Olson (4-3, 2.96) vs. RHP Slade Cecconi (3-3, 3.64) on Friday at 7:10 p.m.; RHP Casey Mize (8-2, 2.86) vs. LHP Logan Allen (5-6, 4.27) on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.; LHP Tarik Skubal (10-2, 2.15) vs. RHP Gavin Williams (5-4, 3.86) on Sunday at 1:40 p.m.
Series: The Guardians went 3-1 in a four-game series at Detroit in late May. Detroit leads the all-time series 1,160-1,158.
Guardians update: The Guardians’ struggles on offense have been well documented. The club is hitting .225 as a team, ranking 26th in baseball while its .297 on-base percentage is 28th. Overall the pitching staff has a bloated 4.05 ERA. Jose Ramirez has a career OPS of .954 against Detroit — his third‑best mark versus any AL team.
Tigers update: The Tigers rank third in the American League at 5.0 runs per game and third in the AL in ERA at 3.44. Detroit’s relievers have a 70.6% save rate; Cleveland’s is slightly better at 74.2%. In nine career starts against the Guardians, Skubal is 3-2 with a 2.84 ERA. He tossed a complete game shutout against Cleveland on May 25 in Detroit, retiring the first 15 batters while striking out 13.

Guardians: SS Gabriel Arias (left ankle), RHP Andrew Walters (right lat), RHP Ben Lively (right elbow), OF Will Brennan (left forearm), RHP Paul Sewald (right shoulder), RHP Shane Bieber (right elbow), RHP Trevor Stephan (right elbow), LHP John Means (left elbow) and LHP Sam Hentges (left shoulder) are on the injured list. RHP Cade Smith (back spasms) is day to day.
Tigers: OF Kerry Carpenter (right hamstring strain), RHP Sawyer Gipson-Long (neck stiffness), RHP Reese Olson (right ring finger inflammation), RHP Alex Lange (lat surgery), RHP Alex Cobb (right hip inflammation), RHP José Urquidy (Tommy John surgery), RHP Jackson Jobe (right flexor strain), RHP Jason Foley (right shoulder surgery), RHP Ty Madden (right rotator cuff strain) are on the injured list.
