Fatal fireworks accident in Wareham: 70-year-old man dies


A 70-year-old man died after he was involved in a fatal fireworks accident in Wareham Friday night, officials said.

The man’s death was confirmed by the Plymouth district attorney’s office in a post on X Friday night. He was not identified.

Wareham fire responded to an incident involving fireworks on Beach Street at about 9:20 p.m., Wareham Acting Fire Chief Patrick Haskell said. The department requested the State Police bomb squad respond to the scene.

State Police bomb technicians also responded to the scene, Jake Wark, a spokesman for the State Fire Marshal’s Office, said in an email.

The incident is under investigation, the district attorney’s office said.
