The river forecast is for the water level to fall below the action stage by Tuesday evening.
SLEEPY EYE, Minn. — Heavy rainfall in Minnesota on Friday night caused the Cottonwood River to rise more than 9 feet in under 24 hours, according to the local river gauge in Springfield.
“According to local rain gauges, Sleepy Eye, MN recorded just over 2 inches of rain Friday night from strong thunderstorms passing through southwestern Minnesota,” said KARE 11 Meteorologist Jamie Kagol.
The river forecast is for the water level to fall below the action stage by Tuesday evening.
