Alix Earle is getting personal about her relationship with birth control.
The social media star, 24, shared her journey with birth control during the Thursday, July 17 episode of her podcast, Hot Mess, and candidly discussed her thoughts on having kids.
The topic came up during a Q&A segment, where Earle answered a request from a fan who asked her to share her “experience or opinion on birth control,” because she said it can be a “tough decision to be on or off it” at times
Making clear she is not a doctor before sharing her thoughts, the podcaster dove into her personal experience with birth control and broke down her journey since she started it when she was around 14 or 15 years old during her freshman year of high school.
“I remember I would have the worst period cramps ever — and I remember I’d be in class and I like would have to leave and go to the nurse at school because my cramps were so bad I felt like I was gonna pass out,” she shared in the episode.
The Sports Illustrated Swim model cited “period cramps” and “the pain” she’d get from them as the reason why she “ultimately” got on birth control in the beginning. She then shared that she tried a few different birth controls in high school because she had “really bad acne.”
Her acne journey is a topic the influencer has addressed in depth in the past, and was notably a topic that launched her to viral fame on TikTok during the summer of 2022 — along with her candid “Get Ready With Me” videos that her 7 million-plus followers have come to know and love.
“I tried a few different birth controls for the reason of acne and it really never made a difference for me. I also think I switched at one point because my one friend got like knockers,” she shared, admitting that she switched again in attempt to go from an A cup to a double D.
She added, “That didn’t happen either.”

Earle, who underwent a breast augmentation in 2022, said her doctor advised her to go off her birth control a few months before she got her boobs done.
“And this is coming from my plastic surgeon doctor,” she noted. “I went off the birth control, everything was fine…. When I went off my birth control, my sex drive went through the roof. Because you know sometimes like birth control can affect that.”
Despite “feeling great,” Earle said her acne “got really bad” as she was going into her senior year of college — which is when she started posting her journey on social media, where her influencing career began.

“Basically I started to get the worst acne I’ve ever had in my entire life, like blistering cystic acne on my face, down my neck, everything,” she said. “I was basically told from a doctor that like my testosterone levels were high and they were like you need to get back on birth control.”
Following orders from her doctor, Earle went back on birth control her senior year.
“So that was for like two more years,” she clarified in the episode. “So last year I went off of the birth control, so six months after, in the fall of this year, I started to break out really, really bad again and I went on spironolactone for my acne and I started a really really good skincare regimen.”
“My skin ultimately ended up like balancing out and figuring itself out, but I personally feel a lot better not being on birth control,” she continued. “But obviously that’s also something you have to be very careful about, especially in a relationship.”
“I don’t need babies,” Earle said, wrapping, “So that’s my journey with birth control.”

The topic of having kids isn’t one the content creator has opened up about much in the past. However, she has weighed in on her future with her boyfriend Braxton Berrios.
The couple sparked romance rumors in March 2023 and confirmed their relationship in July 2023 when they walked the ESPY Awards red carpet hand-in-hand.
In February 2025, Earle debunked engagement rumors with the NFL player.
“No, nothing right now,” Earle told E! News at the time. [We’re] both focused on our careers and having fun, but it’s going great.”

When the couple stepped out on the red carpet at a pre-Super Bowl party later that month, Berrios told the aforementioned outlet that any conversations about marriage will be kept private between him and Earle.
Those conversations are kept between us,” the NFL player teased to E! News in February, “But no, there’s no timeline.”
