A huge task aheadpublished at 19:59 British Summer Time
Wales v France (20:00 BST)

After the emotion of Saturday’s major tournament debut, tonight Wales
cannot be distracted as they try to keep alive their hopes of progressing
beyond the group stage.
Rhian Wilkinson has made some big defensive calls but, having failed to register a shot on target against the Netherlands, Wales need to find a way of causing some problems for a French team on
a nine-game winning run.
Because of England’s emphatic 4-0 win over the Dutch in Group D already
today, Wales cannot be mathematically eliminated this evening.
However, should they lose here in St Gallen, they’d need to beat England
in their final match on Sunday by at least five clear goals and hope France
beat the Netherlands to pull off a miraculous feat and reach the
quarter-finals.
It is therefore imperative that Rhian Wilkinson’s team pick up something
this evening against a side ranked 10thin the Fifa world rankings.
And just to put that into context, Wales have only ever earned four
draws against top-10 ranked nations since the rankings were introduced in 2003.
