Red Sox vs. Rockies lineups and preview for July 7, 2025

Richard Fitts will get the nod for the Sox. It will be the 12th major league start for the righthander, who has yet to post a win. He tossed three innings of one-run ball his last time out against the Reds before the game was suspended due to rain.

Although brief, it was a promising performance for Fitts, who averaged better than 97 miles per hour with his fastball, reaching 99 on a pair of pitches.

The Rockies will go with lefthander Austin Gomber, who is also winless this season but worked five innings for the third time in four starts last Wednesday against the Astros.

Here is a preview.

Stat of the day: The Rockies are on track for 124 losses, which would break the modern-day record of 121 set by last year’s White Sox.

Notes: Ceddanne Rafaela is batting .304 since the start of June, including Sunday’s 3-for-4 performance in which he had a double off the left-field wall at Nationals Park and a home run over it. … The sweep of the Nationals was just the third of the season for the Red Sox, and their first on the road since July 2-4 last season at Miami. … Fitts is facing the Rockies for the first time in his career. … The Red Sox are keeping their rotation in line, going with Brayan Bello on Tuesday and Lucas Giolito on Wednesday. … Gomber is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in two career starts against the Red Sox.
