When Dua Lipa debuted her engagement ring, the internet took notice.
The singer has been showing off her wedding proposal ring — a bold, chunky gold band with a prominent round-cut diamond — from fiancé Callum Turner on Instagram since the beginning of June, and searches for “chunky engagement ring” have spiked on Google.
“Celebrity engagements make headlines, and the rings instantly become inspiration for clients around the world,” Avi Hiaeve, founder and chief executive officer of diamond jewelry and luxury watches boutique Avi & Co., told WWD. “Social media has made it easier than ever to fall in love with a particular style and bring it to life. These bold styles worn by celebrities are sparking a new wave of bridal trends.”

Lipa’s engagement ring goes in the opposite direction of the dainty bands so popular among soon-to-be brides for their timeless appeal and understated style. The bold silhouette, however, offers a larger canvas for self-expression.
“There is a growing desire for jewelry that feels personal, expressive and unapologetically luxurious. Chunky engagement rings reflect this shift,” Hiaeve said. “Clients want pieces that make a statement, that feel powerful yet refined. It is about celebrating individuality and embracing jewelry as a form of self-expression.”
The chunky design can also offer more stability and support for larger stones, making it a smart choice for long-term wear, Hiaeve explained. “It also allows for additional design elements, like added pavé stones.”
Chunky engagement rings are among the many trends experts spotted at the Couture Show in Las Vegas in June. Colored gemstones, vintage-inspired settings, and antique cuts, such as Old Mine or Old European, are also gaining popularity alongside classic solitaires in platinum or yellow gold bezels.
“Chunky bands, flush-set solitaires, and bezel designs are making a strong return, alongside east-west settings and antique-style clusters,” gemstone expert Lauren Levy of Lauren DeYoung jewelry previously told WWD.
