TEMPLE, Texas — It won’t be a washout, but get those umbrellas ready before watching fireworks on the Fourth of July.
Between the parade and those of you planning to grill, the start of our Independence Day forecast will feature showers and isolated thunderstorms. Timing-wise, we’re looking for between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. with showers possible off and on.
Rain may still occur outside of this window, but the chances will be decreasing into the evening hours. None of these will be severe, but they may produce some gusty winds and lightning at times, which is why we’ve issued a Weather Impact Alert for Friday.

Friday evening forecast
Coverage falls and rain chances will be much lower by fireworks time, but if you have daytime activities planned, make sure to keep an eye on the forecast, as we could see some hit-or-miss showers for at least the first half of the day.

How much rain could we see?
Rainfall estimates for Friday linger below the 1-inch margin for our area. The highest totals will be for areas west of I-35.
The good thing about “raining on our 4th of July parade” is that temperatures won’t be as hot as what we’ve been experiencing. We don’t think anyone will reach 90 degrees either on Thursday or Friday. But when high pressure builds back in over the weekend, we will flirt with the 90s again.
