WASHINGTON (7News) — A journalist with The Washington Post is facing allegations of possessing child sex abuse material after federal officials said they found material on his work laptop, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Thomas LeGro, a 48-year-old reporter whose roles with the newspaper date back to 2013, was arrested at his D.C. home on Thursday and appeared before a federal judge on Friday. A spokesperson with The Post confirmed they were aware of the allegations and have placed him on leave.

Officials said LeGro had a folder on his work computer with 11 videos depicting the abuse material. Officials said a fractured hard drive was found in a hallway near where the laptop was found.
Several other hardware items were taken during the search, according to federal attorneys.
No other details were provided on the investigation, nor on how officials were alerted to LeGro.
LeGro had been on several teams with the Post since 2013, including the National, Climate, Metro, Style, and Technology sections, according to his biography on the website. He became executive producer in 2021, overseeing Politics, National, International and Technology teams.
LeGro had received several national awards and nominations, bis biography adds.
