A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for a portion of Lake County on Sunday night as fierce storms approached the area.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Lake County until 10 p.m.
At 9:16 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Wadsworth, moving north at 15 miles per hour, the NWS stated. Residents were advised to expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.
Wind gusts of 60 miles per hour and penny-sized hail were possible, meteorologists said.
Earlier severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for southeastern Lake and northern Cook counties but were canceled after storms exited the area.
