The final round of the 2025 Rocket Classic is sure to be dramatic, with 19 players within five shots of the lead.
It could also be a historic day for leader Aldrich Potgieter, who, at 20 years old, stands to become the youngest PGA Tour winner ever from South Africa. Potgieter holds a two-shot lead at 19 under par heading into the final round, ahead of five players who are tied at 17 under.
Potgieter isn’t about to put the blinders on for Sunday’s round, either. Given the low scores at Detroit Golf Club this week, the long bomber said he plans to remain fully aware of any movement on the leaderboard.
“I kind of need to know what’s happening,” Potgieter said Saturday. “If I don’t look at it and some guy made four birdies in a row and I’m all of a sudden I’m two shots back, I kind of need to know to kind of step on it, especially if you want to win. If you want to keep playing safe to protect your spot, you kind of want to stay focused on what you’re doing. It’s kind of like a match play thing, you’ve got to play against the
playing partners, not the golf course.”
Aldrich Potgieter’s interview after Round 3 of Rocket Classic
Following his third-round 7-under 65 at the 2025 Rocket Classic, Aldrich Potgieter talks about his impressive front nine and how his prior experience can help him as he prepares for the final round.
Potgieter already has a runner-up finish on his resume, after losing a playoff to Brian Campbell at the Mexico Open in February. But if Potgieter can hang on to win, or even finish second this week, he’s set to receive the biggest check of his career.
Still, there’s a long way to go — and plenty of competition within striking distance who will be looking to usurp Potgeiter’s place at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon, including major winners Collin Morikawa and Matt Fitzpatrick.
With that, here are the money payouts for the Travelers Championship, played at TPC River Highlands. The total purse is $20 million.
