Darius Bazley poured in 27 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to an 89-88 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in the California Classic on Tuesday at Chase Center.
The game got out to a competitive start, and the Spurs held a five-point lead at the break. They kept the momentum going in the third, but the Lakers took over in the final frame, capped off by a putback dunk by Bazely to secure the one-point win.
The Lakers had three scorers in double digits by halftime, as Bazley led the way with 13 points on 4-for-5 shooting, including 1-for-1 from deep, while Cole Swider had 11, and Dalton Knecht had 10.
Bazley finished the game with an impressive 8-for-10 mark from the field and a 10-for-12 effort from the foul line. Additionally, he rounded out his dominant performance with 13 boards, two assists and a block in 25 minutes. Knecht also shined in the second half and closed the game with 25 points on 9-for-18 shooting. Swider finished with 15 points, four rebounds, an assist, two steals and two blocks.
On the other side, David Jones Garcia was the only player to score more than 10 points for the Spurs, as he led the way with 25 points on 9-for-14 shooting, six rebounds and five assists. Osayi Osifo logged six points, seven rebounds and a block, while Carter Bryant tallied nine points, three rebounds and two blocks.
Both teams return to action in Las Vegas on Thursday. The Lakers face the Mavericks, and the Spurs match up with the 76ers.
